Biography

Born in Wigan Ryan attended St John Fisher secondary school where he began playing rugby and football before joining the Ince Rose Bridge club at the age of 16 prior to joining the Salford Scholarship programme where he progressed through the Academy structure to make his senior debut against Leeds Rhinos in 2015. Later joining Hull KR and Halifax Ryan also had loan spells with North Wales Crusaders, Swinton and Oldham prior to joining the Vikings in August 2024. Being a cousin of Gareth Hock and cousin-in-law of Kevin Brown Ryan grew up in a rugby environment and names former Salford coach Ian Watson as the biggest influence on his career to date. While citing his Super League debut, first Super League try and winning the 1895 Cup with Halifax as his career highlights his ambitions are to make his family proud, become as good a player as possible and take Widnes back to Super League. Away from rugby family man Ryan is a Manchester United supporter and combines his rugby with his job with delivery company DPD, while studying to be an electrician.
