Ryan, a former Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College student played his junior rugby for the Moorfield club and joined the Vikings Scholarship scheme at 15 years of age and progressed through the club’s Academy to make his Super League debut for the Vikings in 2016. ‘Incey’ names his parents as the biggest influence on his career and pays tribute to his coaches and the senior players as he progressed through the ranks to gain selection for England Under 16’s against France in 2013, and selection for the Under 18 squad. Returning to his home-town club in 2022 Ryan cites the Magic Weekend experience in Newcastle and the dramatic season-saving win in Perpignan, both in 2017, as his career highlights while his ambition is play regularly and enjoy his rugby. 2022 saw him pass twin milestones of 50 appearances for Widnes and 100 career games, while also passing 200 points for Widnes and 250 career points in 2023. Combining his rugby with an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering Ryan relaxes by playing on his X-box and going to the cinema.
