Bolton born Liam began playing his junior rugby with Wigan St Judes from the age of 10 to 16 prior to joining the Salford Academy, later having a loan period with North Wales Crusaders and moving on to Oldham. Making just shy of 100 appearances for the Roughyeds and twice being voted the Supporters’ Player of the Year ‘Benty’ credits his family – in particular his step-father -, teammates, and coaches as all having a big influence on his career to date. The former St John Fisher, Wigan pupil names winning the League 1 Championship with Oldham as his career highlight to date along with the pride in signing for Widnes. Liam’s ambition since childhood was to play in Super League and the former Lancashire Under 14 representative’s immediate aim is to improve as a player and help the Vikings challenge at the top of the Championship. Having missed most of 2023 with a ruptured ACL injury he is looking forward to 2024 while away from rugby Liam’s interests include the NRL and Boxing.
