Biography

Born in Warrington Lewis attended the William Beamont school and began playing rugby at the age of 10, representing the Warrington Town Boys and also playing for Rylands Sharks. After spells in the Warrington and St Helens Scholarship programmes Lewis joined the Saints Academy, working his way though to the first team, making his debut against Salford in 2013 and subsequently moved on to Barrow, Oldham and Swinton with loan spells at Leigh and Bradford and appearances for Rochdale on dual registration. The England under 18 representative names his coaches at Rylands, Mike Brogan and Neil Clayton, as the major influences on his career to date and cites his Super League debut and winning promotion with both Barrow and Swinton as his career highlights to date. ‘Douggie’s ambitions are to help to take Widnes to the Play-offs and win the 1895 cup. While combining his rugby career with his job as an electrician Lewis also enjoys spending time with his children and playing golf.
