Biography

Born in Wigan Ollie attended St. Peter’s High School and played his junior rugby with Shevington Sharks before joining Widnes at the age of 15, progressing through the Academy and Reserve teams prior to joining the First Team squad for 2021. Initially spotted by Ryan O’Brien, then Head of Youth Performance, in a try-scoring performance in a National Schools Final ‘Brookesy’ cites O’Brien, Grant Gore and Kurtis Marsh as the major influences on his career to date while the Schools Final, his first Senior contract and Man of the Match performances against Bradford and Toulouse in 2023 are the highlights of his career to date. Making his breakthrough in 2021, and with loan appearances for North Wales Crusaders and Rochdale also under his belt, he is targeting a regular first team place and, on the back of 6 tries in 10 games in 2023, a reputation as a regular try-scorer. Away from rugby he is a keen follower of Darts, Formula One and Snooker as well as being a supporter of Liverpool and Brentford while combining his rugby with employment with Altrincham-based Hopewiser.
