VIKINGS WHEELCHAIR TEAM TO TAKE ON COLOSTOMY UK IN FRIENDLY

Widnes Vikings will stage an inclusive doubleheader at Ormiston Chadwick Academy on Sunday, 11 May.

The afternoon begins with the Vikings Wheelchair side facing Colostomy UK.

Colostomy UK will then contest a Physical Disability Rugby League match against the Wales PDRL Team.

Last September, team Colostomy played Chorley Panthers in a PDRL curtain‑raiser at the DCBL Stadium ahead of the Vikings’ final home game against Toulouse Olympique, a day that drew widespread praise for shining a light on rugby league’s inclusive formats.

Giovanni Cinque, speaking on behalf of Colostomy UK, said the charity’s players are eager to return to Widnes. “It was a real honour to take on Chorley Panthers at the DCBL Stadium last year as part of the Widnes v  Toulouse match day.

“We loved playing at such a great venue and were really grateful for the exposure that Widnes gave us.

“Our wheelchair fixture will be our most high‑profile yet. It’s sure to be a brilliant day that highlights the inclusivity of our great sport of rugby league.”

Exact timings for each game will be confirmed in due course.
