Widnes Vikings are proud to be working in partnership the Bus Walker, Neil Atherton, in supporting Widnes Food Bank at our upcoming Betfred Championship clash with Bradford Bulls at the DCBL Stadium on Sunday, 27th July.
As part of our commitment to helping the local community, we’ll be collecting donations on the day, both food and cash, to support the vital work being done by the team at Widnes Food Bank.
Neil is a passionate local supporter of the Vikings and employee at Arriva North West, who will be joining us on the day to help raise awareness.
Over the last 18 months, Neil has walked thousands of miles across the North West to raise funds and awareness for food banks, with Widnes Food Bank being a key part of his efforts.
Neil said: “Over the last 18 months, I’ve been walking all over the North West to raise money and awareness for food banks — including Widnes Food Bank, which does such an important job in our community.
“I’ve had fantastic support from the people of Widnes, and I’m thrilled to be invited down to the game against Bradford to keep spreading the message.
“We’ll be collecting donations at the game, and every contribution goes a long way. No one should have to choose between heating and eating. With the help of clubs like Widnes Vikings, we can make a real difference.”
Supporters attending the game will be able to donate at collection points around the stadium, with volunteers on hand to receive food items or financial contributions.
We encourage all to give what they can to get involved and help those in our community who need it most. In return, each donation will be exchanged for a raffle ticket in a draw to win a signed Widnes Shirt.
Stay tuned to our channels in the lead-up to the game for reminders on how to donate and what items are most needed.
