NICK GREGSON EXTENDS VIKINGS STAY

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Nick Gregson has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him with the club until the end of 2027.

Gregson, 29, signed for the Vikings ahead of last season and has gone on to make 25 appearances, scoring two tries.

He has appeared in 14 of our 19 competitive fixtures this season and has started our last nine games since returning from suspension in April.

On his new deal, Gregson said: “I’m over the moon to be honest, I never wanted to be anywhere else. I said the same thing last year, but this time it’s been more on my own terms, obviously having had a tough 12 months last year.

“I feel like I’ve come into a bit of form now. I’m still not exactly where I want to get to, but I’ve definitely been heading in the right direction.”

He added: “I owed a lot to Allan for giving me the opportunity to stay this year. I didn’t get on the field much last year, and I probably hadn’t done enough to stay.

“But Allan knows me well, and I’m just glad I’ve been able to repay that faith he showed in me this year.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “I’m buzzing to keep Nick, I think everyone will have seen this year the link he’s had with the halves has been really good when we’re playing shape.

“I think he’s really shown his value these last few games. We’ve played some of our best attacking rugby, and he’s at the heart of that with the way he takes the ball to the line and gets us playing.

“He’s a very skilful player at loose forward, and he’s someone we want to build our team around.”

Nick is sponsored by DMR Motors for 2025.

Retentions like this are assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme, they can do so here

Everyone at the club is delighted to see Nick extend his stay and can’t wait to see him pulling on the jersey for the next two years.
