Widnes Vikings, who currently play in the Betfred Championship, are seeking to appoint a General Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL MANAGER – WIDNES VIKINGS
ROLE:
To work in conjunction with the Operational Board to manage the day-to-day running of the business and manage all operational, regulatory, and financial matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Rugby
- To work with the Head Coach on the recruitment and retention of first team players in line with the annual playing budget agreed by the Board
- Liaise with the regulatory body with regards to player registration, required returns, dual registration, and loan contracts.
- Liaise with the Head Coach and Agents in raising Contract Documents.
Finance
- To set departmental budgets in conjunction with the Board and ensure compliance with them.
- To adhere to the rules and regulations of the RFL Salary Cap and provide timely and accurate data when requested by the governing body
- Authorisation of purchase orders, invoices, raising sales invoices, and raising queries.
Commercial
- To work with the Commercial Manager to maximise, improve, and identify new revenue streams from both match day and non-match day sources, delivering on the agreed department budget
Retail and Ticketing
- To review the current offering and enhance further.
- Ensure that all ticket returns are completed as required for both Council and RFL.
- To develop a ticketing strategy for match day and non-match day events to allow maximum purchase time whilst ensuring the ‘away ticket’ purchase policy is utilised to its full potential.
- To work with the existing Retail Manager regarding retail promotions and products.
Community
- Ensure the Foundation is integrated into the day-to-day running of the business and ensure that funding opportunities are developed, and the business recognises and takes the opportunities available to it through such activities
Marketing
- To work in line with the marketing strategy, which focuses on all areas of the business
- To identify a number of ‘focus’ games and work with external partners to develop an enhanced match day experience
Media
- To enhance the existing strategy that encompasses all aspects of the business, both on and off the pitch.
- To identify areas in which currently there is little focus, ensuring the work the business undertakes off the pitch reaches those who may not have an interest in the on-pitch output
Other duties
- Manage and maintain a positive relationship with Halton Borough Council, ensuring matchday and non-matchday events are planned and all required information/documentation is provided.
