Widnes Vikings received a visit from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, David Keane, as he handed over a cheque from the Commissioner’s Safer Communities Fund to support the Vikings Sports Foundation’s ‘Engage’ programme.
The project aims to reduce instances of Anti-Social Behaviour through the delivery of sports sessions in targeted areas across Halton. After working with Cheshire police’s school engagement team on the 4Real project, Engage takes in school learning into the community with the objective of tackling Anti-Social Behaviour, which in turn makes communities stronger and decrease occurrences of nuisance behaviour.
Liam Clark, Widnes Vikings Head of Community, commented: “It was great to welcome David to the Halton Stadium and talk to him at length about our innovative Engage programme and other Vikings Sports Foundation initiatives.”
