Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce the immediate signing of Max Banditt from Queensland Cup side South Logan Magpies on a deal until the end of 2027, with the option for an additional year until 2028.
The 23-year-old Australian forward has previously played for Ipswich Jets and has had train and trial experience with Sydney Roosters before his move to the Magpies in 2025.
Max comes straight into contention for our next game away against Halifax in Round 24 of the Betfred Championship.
On signing for the Vikings, Banditt said: “After playing in the Queensland Cup for the past few years, and spending a period with the Sydney Roosters, I’m really excited to have the opportunity to come over to England and represent a club with the history and tradition of Widnes Vikings.
“I’m looking forward to getting over there, meeting the boys, and hopefully making a strong contribution to the team, there are still some important goals to achieve for the remainder of the season, so I’m excited to get straight into it and play my part.
“Beyond that I’m looking forward to building something with the club through 2027 and 2028, and looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
Head coach Allan Coleman said: “Fantastic work from the board on bringing an opportunity for Max at our club, he’s currently playing Queensland Cup which is a really good level, he’s a big powerful, strong boy, young, really hungry for the game and he’s got a fantastic attitude towards it.”
“I’m over the moon, it’s at the right time for us to bring some real competition into the squad for the final and the playoffs.”
Welcome to the Vikings, Max!
Signings like this are made possible due to the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad
