Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Matty Fleming has penned a one year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2027.
Fleming joined the club in 2022 and has gone on to represent the Vikings 99 times, scoring 26 tries.
Head coach Allan Coleman said: “I’m absolutely delighted to get Fleming on board for next year, at the start of the year when he was fit and playing, he was in the starting team, so that’s really important for us.
“Unfortunately for Flem, he got injured and carried on playing through it which probably made the injury worse, but when he was fit, I was really over the moon with how he was performing, so it was really important that we kept him on board.
“He fits into the DNA of our club at the moment, he’s hard working and he really loves the place, for me it’s vital that we keep people like that on board with us.”
The 30-year-old fullback/centre featured just eight times in 2026 due to injury, but is looking forward to getting back on the field next season.
He said: “I’m really excited to extend for another year, and to just get back out there after a tough season dealing with injury.
“I’ve been with the club for five years now and when Allan (Coleman) approached me to stay it was a very easy decision for me to make.
“I can’t wait to get back to full fitness and pull on that Widnes jersey again next season.”
