Born in Sydney, Morgan began playing rugby at the age of 8 with his local club Terrigal Sharks on the Central Coast area of New South Wales before representing North Queensland Cowboys, Mackay Cutters, Sunshine Coast, and Townsville in second-tier competitions. ‘Kenny’ names his father, Grant, a former professional with South Sydney Rabbitohs, as the major influence on his career, while his immediate ambition is to help Widnes return to the top tier with a longer-term target of securing a full-time Super League contract. The former New South Wales Under 17 rugby union representative cites his first NRL contract with the Cowboys and his Queensland Cup debut at the age of 18 as the highlights of his career to date. The Newcastle United fan enjoys surfing, fishing, and cricket while away from rugby he intends to continue working with young offenders and disadvantaged people while in the UK.
