Born in Billinge Toby began playing rugby at the age of 7 with Newton Storm and attended Haydock High School. His rugby career progressed through the Warrington Scholarship and Academy systems while he also played for the Salford Reserve side before making his senior debut with North Wales Crusaders in 2023, where he won the Try of the Season Award in 2025. Toby names his parents and step-father as major influences on his career to date along with Lewis Gildert, Jonathan Mann and Lee Forbes his coaches at Newton Storm, and Carl Forster and Stuart Simmons at Crusaders. The Community Lions representative names his career highlights as scoring in the 2023 League 1 Play-Off Final and winning the League 1 championship in 2025 while his ambition is to secure a first team place and enjoy a long stint with the Vikings. Away from rugby the Management Accountant enjoys playing golf and padel and is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC.
