Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Jayden Hatton has committed his future to the club for the 2020 season.
Jayden started his journey with the club in the Widnes Vikings Development Squad, working his way through every stage of the club’s youth pathway into the first team squad.
After impressing in the Academy during the 2019 season, the former Wade Deacon student was handed his debut for his home town club against Batley Bulldogs in July.
The ex-Halton Farnworth Hornet would then go on to make the wing spot his own, and was rewarded with a place in the starting team for the club’s first return to Wembley in 26 years in the 1895 Cup final.
Finishing the year with 9 tries in 14 appearances, Jayden’s performances earned himself the club’s Young Player of the Year award at the End of Season Dinner, and has now committed his future to the club for the 2020 season.
Jayden Hatton commented, “Widnes Vikings is my home town team, and I take immense pride in playing for this club.
“I’m buzzing that I get to pull on a Widnes shirt next year again, and build on the year I had last year.
“Personally, I was happy with how my year went in 2019. The opportunity to play in the first team probably came earlier than I was expecting, but I feel like I gave everything I could whenever I played. To play at Wembley for Widnes was a dream and I want to create more memories here.
“The aim for me now is build on that, to impress Tim Sheens and the fans, and keep improving as a player.”
A massive thanks to Glynn Carlisle of Teeling Management for the sponsorship of Jayden for the 2020 season.
