Max Roberts signs one year extension

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Max Roberts has signed a one year extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2027.

The versatile centre joined the club in 2023, and has since made 90 appearances and scored 25 tries.

On his new deal, Max Roberts said: “I’m buzzing to get this sorted, I’m really enjoying my time here, it’s been a good few years now so I’m absolutely made up to extend it for another year.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Al (Coleman) and we’ve had a core group of lads that have been here for the last few years, it makes it easier to make these decisions when you’re enjoying your rugby at a club.

“The fans, my sponsors, I’ve got a great relationship across the board really so it was an easy decision to make.”

Roberts enjoyed spells with Oldham and Swinton before joining the Vikings at the beginning of Allan Coleman’s tenure.

Head coach Allan Coleman said: “The versatility Max has, and the utility he possesses for playing different positions is unbelievable, he can play anywhere on the field and he always gives his all, he’s a game changer and he always turns up in the big games so he’s a huge asset to have.

“He’s 25, he’s hungry, he’s played a lot of games but he’s still relatively young so he fits the DNA of our club.

“The work ethic, and the attitude he brings towards playing for us is a non negotiable, and he has that in bundles.

“Absolutely over the moon and delighted to have him with us for another year.”
