Tim Holmes to step down as general manager

Widnes Vikings can confirm that Tim Holmes will step down from his role as general manager at the end of June, bringing to a close a memorable spell both on and off the field for the club.

Since returning to the Vikings in October, Tim has played a key role in driving the club forward across a number of areas.

From enhancing the matchday and supporter experience, to strengthening links between the club and the Foundation, his energy, creativity and personality have made a significant impact throughout the organisation.

Whether through community engagement, commercial development, media content, or his now trademark video appearances, Tim has become a hugely recognisable and popular figure around the club, reconnecting with supporters and helping to build a positive atmosphere around the Vikings.

Club chairman Stuart Murphy commented: “Tim brought an unbelievable amount of energy and ideas with him when he joined the club back in October – that’s clear for everybody to see.

“His 110% work ethic shines through in everything and everybody he deals with, whether that’s a four-year-old or an 84-year-old. He has an individual style that’s a bit hypnotic!

“We can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done during his time with us, but we fully understand and respect his decision to continue exploring other opportunities.

“Tim will certainly not be a stranger to us and will still be involved with the club and Foundation in other ways. And let’s not forget — he still has a time to beat against the Masked Man at the end of the season!

“We wish Tim and his family all the very best for the future.”

Tim Holmes added: “After a lot of reflection, I’ve made the decision to step away from my role at the club to explore new opportunities and challenges at the end of June.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone connected to the club – the players, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters – for the support, conversations, memories, and even putting up with some of my wacky videos along the way.

“This club means a great deal to me, and I leave with nothing but respect, gratitude, and genuine hope for a bright future ahead. I’ll always want to see the club and its people succeed and will support that however I can, opportunities remain available to ensure quality for the young people of the town through the Future Vikings Programme.

“Finally, I’d like to thank the board for giving me this opportunity to start with and for their ongoing support throughout my spell back here.

“Given my video presence, this just wouldn’t be right to finish on the written word, so we’ll make sure to get a final Vikings Voice or Podcast in before the end of June.”

Everyone at Widnes Vikings would like to thank Tim for his dedication, energy, and commitment during his time at the club, and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.

The club will now begin the process of recruiting with an updated role specification and expressions of interest to be released in due course.
