It was a tough afternoon for Widnes Vikings, losing out 18-8 to Barrow Raiders in Round 9 of the Betfred Championship.
The game was a real war of attrition for the opening half-hour, but it was Nathan Connell who broke the deadlock with a walk-in try in the corner after quick hands right.
The hosts struck back on the stroke of half-time, Jarrad Stack pouncing on a short kick from Ryan Johnston to crash over. The Raiders added the extras to ensure a slender advantage at the interval.
It was Barrow who started the second half better, and Tee Ritson ran the ball 70 metres and crossed under the posts to stretch their advantage further.
The Vikings struck back 12 minutes from time, Ryan Ince diving over in the corner to close the gap.
Four minutes later, Barrow made sure of the two points after moving the ball well, and it was finished off by Luke Cresswell under the posts after he supported a break down the right.
