Widnes Vikings played out a frustrating affair in South Yorkshire, losing 28-12 to Doncaster at the Eco-Power stadium.
The hosts opened the scoring after 10 minutes as Reece Lyne crossed in the corner, and the kick was converted to give Doncaster a 6-0 lead.
Six minutes later, after Mike Butt was sent to the sin-bin for a professional foul, Doncaster kicked a penalty to stretch their advantage to eight points.
Doncaster then scored once more, a try-saving tackle from Jumah Sambou wasn’t enough to keep the visitors out.
The Vikings enjoyed a bright start to the second half, Sambou taking advantage of a dropped ball and crossing under the posts to get the visitors on the board.
Six minutes later, Tom Gilmore crashed over and converted his own try to cut the deficit to just four points.
Ten minutes later, Doncaster responded as Titus Gwaze bowled his way over to consolidate their advantage. Edene Gebbie then nestled his way into the corner to ensure two points for the hosts.
