This week’s Thunderbolt: Fan of the Week is lifelong Widnes Vikings supporter Chris Whitfield, who is going the extra mile in support of the club’s community charity, the Widnes Vikings Foundation.
Chris launched his own fundraising initiative by taking on a month-long challenge he dubbed “Decembeard”, growing a beard throughout December to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation’s work across the local community.
Due to the fantastic support received, Chris has now continued the challenge into January, determined to push on towards his fundraising target.
A regular follower of the Vikings, Chris is aiming to raise over £500 for the Foundation and has already raised more than £200, helping to support programmes focused on health, education, inclusion, and wellbeing across Halton.
Chris’s efforts highlight the passion and generosity of the club’s supporter base, using a fun personal challenge to shine a spotlight on the positive impact of the Widnes Vikings Foundation.
