Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Nick Gregson has signed a new deal to keep him with the club in 2025.
Gregson, 28, joined the club ahead of last season, he made 11 appearances for the Vikings, scoring two tries.
After suffering a dislocated shoulder in our Round 14 defeat to Swinton Lions, Gregson was ruled out for the season, however, after having successful shoulder surgery, he is eager to come back and show what he can do in 2025.
On his new deal, Gregson said: “I’m extremely happy and thankful to Allan and Chris for giving me the opportunity to re-sign with the club, as it’s the only place I want to be.
“Obviously it was a great year for the club but for me personally it wasn’t the best with me being on the sidelines for the majority of the year.
“I’m really looking forward to 2025 and repaying the faith that’s been shown in me, I want to show what I can do on the field now.
He added: “Re-signing wasn’t a tough decision, this club is where I want to be and it’s been hard for me watching on the sidelines.
“I’m excited to hopefully be able to add to that and have an even better season next year.”
Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “Nick had a really tough year with the injury he sustained, resulting in him missing quite a bit of the season.
“I know the Widnes fans haven’t seen the best of him but he was desperate to stay with us. I think it’s vital to have that competition in a playmaker role like loose forward, Nick brings that, and his skill level is up there with the very best.
“I’m delighted to keep hold of him and I know he’s desperate to prove to everybody what he can bring to this team.”
Retentions like this are assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to strengthen the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme they can do so here
Everyone at the club is delighted to see Nick extend his stay and can’t wait to see him back in a Vikings shirt for 2025.
Nick is sponsored by DMR Motors.
