Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Joe Edge has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him with the club until the end of 2026.
Edge, 24, came through the Vikings academy and has gone on to make 81 appearances for the club, scoring 21 tries.
After suffering two sportsman’s hernias, he missed much of the 2024 season, logging a total of 13 appearances and five tries.
On his new contract, Edge said: “I’m made up to have resigned for another 2 years with my hometown team.
“I just love being here, I’ve been here since I was a kid and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I think we’re building something really exciting and I want to be a part of that.
“It was a great season as a team last year, getting to the playoffs. I think next year is going to be even better and hopefully, we can go even further.”
Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “It’s fantastic to retain the services of Joe Edge.
“We’ve been really unlucky with Joe this year. He’s not really had many injuries previously but this year we missed him for at least 3-4 months of the season.
“We rate him very highly and we’re delighted he’s staying with us. He’s had his operation, so he’ll be good to go for next season.”
Retentions like this are assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to strengthen the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme they can do so here
Everyone at the club is delighted to see Joe extend his stay and can’t wait to see him pulling on the jersey for the next two seasons.
Joe is sponsored by Teeling Management.
