Widnes Vikings can now confirm the players who will be leaving the club following the conclusion of the 2024 season, as announced at last night’s Awards Dinner.
Callum Field announced yesterday evening that he will depart the Vikings at the end of 2024 as he takes a year out of the game following an injury-struck campaign.
Field joined the Vikings on loan in 2022, before making his move permanent ahead of the 2023 season. He has made 45 appearances for the club scoring four tries.
As was previously confirmed, Sam Wilde and Lloyd Roby will join North Wales Crusaders in 2025.
Wilde departs the club to accommodate new work commitments as he moves into a career in the Fire Service.
Speaking at yesterday’s awards dinner, Sam said that his favourite memory with the club was playing at Wembley in the 1895 Cup Final in 2019.
Also departing the club at the end of the season will be Ollie Brookes and Sam Brooks.
Ollie came up through our academy, while Sam returned for a second spell with the Vikings ahead of the 2024 season. They have both made 22 appearances for the club.
Finally, Shane Grady will head back into retirement at the end of 2024 after returning to the club at the start of August.
Grady scored a brace on his return to the DCBL Stadium against Sheffield last month. He has made 137 appearances for the club, scoring 40 tries.
The club would like to thank all of our departing players for their efforts and wish them all the best for the future.
