JORDAN JOHNSTONE PENS NEW DEAL WITH THE VIKINGS

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Jordan Johnstone has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him with the club until the end of 2026.

Johnstone, 27, rejoined the club ahead of last season, he has made 93 appearances for the Vikings, scoring seven tries across his two spells with the club.

He has appeared in 14 of our 15 games so far this season, scoring two tries, and joins Jack Owens & Tom Gilmore in committing his future to the club.

On his new deal, Johnstone said: “I’m over the moon, really happy to get it over the line.

“It’s an exciting time, we’ve started the season well and have picked up some good results. We’ve shown quite a lot of character and resilience within the group.

“It’s good signs for the future and I’m really happy to be moving forward with this club.”

He added: “We just need to keep building as a club. This year is about being in the playoffs, we’re sitting pretty in 2nd at the moment so hopefully we can finish the season up there.

“Then moving forward hopefully we can keep building and push our way back up to Super League.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “I’m delighted to keep JJ, his energy and effort is 100% in everything he does.

“He’ll play anywhere for you as long he’s got a Widnes jersey on and that speaks volumes.

“He was desperate to stay and it’s vital we kept hold of him as there was lots of interest.”

This is assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme they can do so here

Everyone at the club is delighted to see JJ extend his stay and can’t wait to see him pulling on the jersey for many years to come.
