Sport and Exercise Science (BSc)

This three-year program provides a comprehensive understanding of the physiological, biomechanical, and psychological aspects influencing athletic performance. Students will benefit from our partnership with Widnes Vikings, engaging in practical experiences that bridge theory and practice.

Key Course Features:

Accreditation: The program is endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), ensuring high academic and professional standards.
Industry Qualifications: Students have the opportunity to obtain additional certifications, such as Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer, enhancing employability.
Hands-On Learning: Engage in practical sessions within BASES-accredited laboratories, focusing on areas like nutrition, physiology, psychology, biomechanics, performance analysis, and strength and conditioning.
Placement Opportunities: Complete 120 hours of placement, applying theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

What You Will Study:

Year 1 (Level 4): Introduction to sports science disciplines, including psychology, physiology, performance analysis, and strength and conditioning.
Year 2 (Level 5): Advanced study of human anatomy, kinesiology, health and fitness, and exercise physiology.
Year 3 (Level 6): Specialized modules focusing on research methods, contemporary issues in sport, and a dissertation project.

Industry Collaboration: Work with external partners, including Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club, Mold Boxing Club, the Football Association of Wales, Fervid Fitness, and Planetree Adventure, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive learning experience.
Recognized Qualifications: Obtain various industry-recognized awards and qualifications, enhancing your professional profile.
Flexible Study Options: Choose between full-time (2 years) or part-time (4 years) study, accommodating different personal and professional commitments.
