The Vikings, in partnership with DCBL, are delighted to announce the launch of the 12 visits of Christmas!
We want to recognise 12 local people who, in the last 12 months, have gone above and beyond for their families, friends, work colleagues, have suffered health-wise, lost a loved one, or who could just do with a pick me up.
The Vikings squad and coaches have all volunteered to give up some time to visit those in the community and spread some Christmas cheer!
We will split the current squad into groups of 2 to carry out the visits to the chosen people.
There is no age restriction on who is eligible, all we want to do is bring a bit of joy on behalf of the Vikings to people who deserve it.
To have a chance to be allocated a visit, we are asking people to nominate who they think would benefit from a visit from the Vikings.
To do this you need to send a brief email, outlining who it is you are nominating and why.
Add their name, address, age, and contact number, as well as your own number.
Thanks to our new main sponsor, DCBL, who has kindly supported this idea, we will be giving each of the people we visit a supermarket gift card, so they can treat themselves in time for Christmas and a Widnes goodie bag containing some Vikings treats.
Christopher Hamilton, Head of Operations at the Vikings said “This is our way of giving a little bit back to some people who have been having a hard time for one reason or another.
“We are grateful for the support of DCBL, again, so early in their partnership with us, for backing this idea.
“We want to be faced with some really difficult choices as to who the recipients are so we are hoping the Vikings fans will get behind this and send in lots of suggestions.
The playing staff and coaches have been brilliant in their desire to be part of this, which is vital to making it a success and we thank them all, in advance, for giving up their time.”

The deadline for receiving applications is midnight on Sunday 10 December.
Following the final submissions, a panel will select the best 12 and the club will make contact with the applicants to finalise arrangements for the visits.
The visits will take place from Tuesday 12 December, with the last visits on Saturday 23 December.
