Widnes Vikings pair Matty Fozard and Lewis Hulme have both been called up to the 30-man Wales squad that will take on France in a World Cup warm up game, which will be their first Rugby League international game since 2018. 14 uncapped players have been selected for the upcoming fixture, with Lewis being one of those who are hoping to represent their Welsh heritage for the first time.
Other notable uncapped inclusions in the squad are Caleb Aekins and Luis Roberts (Leigh), Bailey Antrobus (York City Knights) and Will Evans (Whitehaven) who was part of the 2019 Nines squad but is not yet a full international.
New Vikings head coach and current Wales coach John Kear will trim the 30-man squad down to 21 before travelling to the south of France, where the two sides will meet in Albi on Sunday, June 19th.
This fixture will be the 44th meeting between the two nations. The last time they met, France came out resounding winners with a 54-18 victory in Carcassonne back in 2018.
