Following on from Monday night’s victory at Dewsbury Rams, we take a look at how the squad has come out of the game with a look towards next Monday’s Betfred Challenge Cup clash with Leigh Centurions…
Ryan Ince unfortunately failed his head injury assessment during the Dewsbury game which rules him out of this week’s game. Ryan will be assessed by the medical staff through the week and will follow the concussion protocols before returning to action.
Club Captain Jack Owens will still be unavailable with an ongoing knee problem. Jack is progressing well with his rehab programme and will hopefully return to running in the coming weeks.
Half-back Danny Craven will also be missing from our trip to the Leigh Sports Village after a scan revealed a Grade 2 hamstring injury sustained at Halifax, which is usually a four to six week recovery period. He will be assessed week by week by the medical staff who will determine his return-to-play date.
Owen Farnworth is recovering well from his foot injury and has picked up his running metres and high intensity runs with the conditioning staff. Owen could come back into selection contention this week after being assessed by the medical department.
Liam Bent is close to a return to full fitness after a back issue picked up in the early rounds of the season. He has also began running on the pitch and could be back in contention in the next week or two.
Ollie Brookes is now fully fit and up for selection, alongside the three Vikings who haven’t featured yet in Levy Nzoungou, Dec Gregory and Jake Spedding. They will all be hoping to be named in the 21-man squad on Saturday for Monday night’s game.
The Leigh game is live on Premier Sports, and you can buy tickets either online via the button below or at the Club Shop at Widnes Market on Thursday, Friday (10am-4pm) or Saturday (10am-3pm).
