Widnes Vikings would like to update supporters on the initial findings of our Season Ticket survey, following its launch on Monday evening.
Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the survey so far, which has helped us gain an understanding of the financial implications imposed by the cancellation of the season.
We can reveal that over half of our Season Ticket holders have responded already in the first five days, with 83% opting to donate their Season Ticket money to the club.
With this finding, we have gained a better understanding of the financial standing of the club, not just now but also for the coming months.
As fans have seen with a number of announcements this week, the findings of the survey have helped the club move quickly and confidently in establishing a playing budget for 2021 and to begin the recruitment and retention process.
We have been able to bolster our forward pack with the signings of experienced duo Matt Cook and Lee Jewitt, while retaining some of our top performers from 2020 in Deon Cross, Jake Spedding and Kenny Baker who all attracted interest from elsewhere.
This process is of course on-going, with the club building a squad ready for the return of rugby league, and we will have more good news to bring our loyal supporters in the coming days and weeks.
We would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate that we understand the impact that the Coronavirus pandemic has had on society as a whole, which includes our supporters and Commercial Partners who may have been financially affected by the current situation.
Refunds have been made available to all Season Ticket holders who wish to take advantage of this option, as we understand the necessity to meet the individual needs of our supporters through this difficult period.
We also want to ensure our supporters and Partners that the club is currently in a stable position financially, thanks to the combination of how we have managed the club in the last 18 months and the incredible backing we have received from our fans.
As recent events have proven though, a lot can change in a small period of time, which is why it has been important to try and gain the best possible understanding of how our finances have been affected by the implications of Covid-19.
As a business, and as with any other business, it is imperative that we remain financially stable; especially due to the hard work everyone involved in the club has put in to begin to re-build Widnes Vikings. That includes our incredible supporters, who have backed every decision we have made and have shown time and time again just how important they are.
The process as a whole has been about our future, not just our current financial situation, with the overall aim of strengthening year on year towards a sustainable future.
As ever, all decisions have been made with the best interests of our club and our loyal supporters at heart.
