Biography

Born in Bolton Tom later attended Bedford High School in Leigh and started playing rugby with the Leigh East club but subsequently finished playing at the age of fifteen. At the age of fifteen he became a Training Assistant with Leigh Centurions before being appointed as Assistant Coach to NCL Grand Finalists Leigh Miners ARLFC Open Age team in 2016. Further roles with the club’s Under 18’s culminated with winning the BARLA National Cup, Lancashire Cup and North West Counties Premier Division Championship prior to becoming assistant to Allan Coleman at Swinton where they won the League 1 Grand Final, before joining Allan at Widnes in 2024. Tom’s coaching experience also includes a variety of County, Regional and International roles, including a spell as Head Coach of the England Lions U16s, which he names as a career highlight alongside Swinton gaining promotion. Holding an ambition to become a Head Coach Tom’s current role includes match review and attacking play while away from rugby the Land Surveyor and Site Engineer is a keen Liverpool FC fan and enjoys walking and socialising.
