Born in Wrexham Rhys attended Argoed High School and began playing rugby union at the age of five with Mold RFC and Scarlets Academy before switching to rugby league at the age of 18 when he joined Warrington. Having represented Wales Under 18s he made his senior international debut, against England, in 2008 followed by his Super League debut with Warrington in 2010. His domestic career, which also includes spells with London, Salford, Swinton, Castleford and North Wales Crusaders, was interrupted in 2014 when he played for Central Queensland Capras scoring 8 tries in 15 games. ‘Dragon’ names his Dad as the major influence on his career and his career highlights as the Challenge Cup Final appearance with Salford and the Million Pound game with London. His immediate ambition is to reach 350 career appearances while also targeting the Championship Grand Final. Family man Rhys combines his rugby with his role as a PE Teacher and supports Manchester United and Wrexham FC.
