Born in Warrington, Gavin attended Lymm High School and began playing rugby at the age of 13 with local clubs Latchford and Rylands Sharks before representing his hometown club at the Under 18 and Under 20 levels. He went on to play for Swinton, Featherstone, Halifax, Salford, Oldham, and Rochdale, with a year in Australia with Mackay Cutters in 2015, prior to joining Widnes. Citing Adrian Morley, his role model at Warrington, as the biggest influence on his career ‘The Bird’ went on to tour Australia with England Under 18s and returned down under with Wales for the World Cup in 2022. He also represented Wales in the 2019 World Nines. Gavin names his Super League debut for Salford alongside his Wales debut in 2017 and playing against Papua New Guinea in the 2022 World Cup as career highlights. Away from rugby the qualified Scuba diver enjoys going to the Gym and works as a Warehouse and Production Operative.
