Biography

Born in Leigh, Allan joined the Leigh Academy at the age of 16 and made one senior appearance prior to spending 10 years with the Leigh Miners club until hand injuries forced him to retire and move into coaching, initially with the Under 18 and Open Age Miners teams and Leigh Reserves. He also spent two years with rugby union club Tyldesley. Allan began his senior coaching career as Assistant Coach at Swinton before taking over as Head Coach two years later, at the same time leading the England Community Lions U19s to success in the European Championships in 2022, while also coaching the England 9-a-side team in the Commonwealth Games in Australia. ‘Trigger’ names his senior debut for Leigh as his playing highlight while leading Leigh Miners to the treble of Cup, League Leaders, and Grand Final victories as his coaching highlight. His ambitions are to take Widnes into the Super League, be the best coach he can be, and become full-time. Combining his Vikings role with his employment at Liberty Group Allan’s interests include family, all sports, walking, and supporting Liverpool FC.
