Widnes got back to winning ways with a strong 56-16 victory over Whitehaven on Sunday.
The Vikings made five changes to the 17 which faced Featherstone last time out, with Ryan Ince, Aaron Brown and Adam Lawton all recovering from injury to make the squad, with Josh Johnson and Callum Field both in for their debuts after joining this week.
The visitors got in front early on, Josh Martin getting on the end of a kick out on the right wing early on to edge Haven ahead on five minutes.
Widnes got back on level terms five minutes later though, working a smart move out on the left edge between Ste Tyrer, Joe Edge and Lloyd Roby to send Matty Fozard flying over.
The Vikings got in front five minutes after that try, Joe Edge getting on the end of a Matty Smith kick out left again to feed Sam Wilde to put down.
With five until the break, Owen Farnworth powered over for his first career try to take Widnes further ahead.
Just two minutes later, Joe Lyons added another to hand the Vikings an authoritative 24-6 going into the break.
Five minutes after the restart, Joe Edge got on the end of a Joe Lyons kick to score from the left wing.
Widnes continued their pattern of scoring a try within regular five minute intervals when Matty Fozard put the Vikings ahead by 36 points to 6.
It wasn’t long until the Widnes hooker got over for his hat-trick, powering over with another scoot.
Callum Field scored on his debut on the hour mark, dummying to send his man the wrong way before putting down under the sticks.
Ste Tyrer got a try of his own after converting eight with ten minutes left on the clock, before Lloyd Roby rounded off the contest with a try on the hooter to round off a much-needed victory for the Vikings.
