Widnes Vikings can confirm that Forward Martyn Reilly has departed the club with immediate effect.
Originally contracted until the end of 2025, the club has made the decision to release him from the remainder of his contract.
Martyn joined the Vikings ahead of last season, and after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season, he returned to play in the final two games of 2024.
He made 17 appearances for the Vikings across the last two seasons, scoring one try.
On Reilly’s departure, Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “I firstly want to take the opportunity to thank Martyn Reilly for all his hard work and effort while playing for Widnes. He’s been an absolute credit to himself, the club, and his family.
“An opportunity came up for us this year and for next year that we hope to finalise soon, but there was also an opportunity for Martyn to take. Unfortunately, that’s the way the game is going at the moment, where players come and go during the season.
“It’s a tough situation with the way the game is going, but I just wanted to thank Martyn again for his efforts; he was a fantastic bloke to work with.”
Everyone at the club would like to thank Martyn for his effort and dedication in a Vikings shirt and wish him the very best for the future.
