Widnes Vikings are excited to announce the return of Batley Bulldogs half-back Tom Gilmore on a two-year deal.
Gilmore, who came through the club’s academy pathway, gained England caps at Youth and Academy level.
The 28-year-old made 58 appearances during his first spell with the Vikings, scoring 15 tries and adding a further 73 goals.
Gilmore’s performances during that time also led to a place in the England Knights Performance squad.
Since his departure from the club, the talented half-back has enjoyed stints with Halifax Panthers, London Broncos and more recently Batley Bulldogs.
He shone for the Bulldogs last season, making 32 appearances in total as they made it all the way to the Betfred Championship play-off final.
Signings like these are only possible due to the generosity of our supporters using subscription schemes like VIQI and Widnes VIPs.
He becomes the latest permanent signing at the Vikings as John Kear’s 2023 squad continues to take shape, with winger Kieran Dixon and prop forward Ant Walker signing for the club last week.
On his return, Gilmore said: “It’s exciting to come back. I feel like I’ve got my better years in front of me.
“When I was here growing up, I was injured a lot and didn’t play as many games as I should.
“The last couple of years, I’ve been back playing and showing everyone what I’m about. Hopefully I can come back with a bang.
“I know this level very well now, and I’ll get the team around. Hopefully I can do that again next year.”
