Widnes Vikings Women 10-42 Dewsbury Moor

Widnes Vikings Women were beaten 42-10 by an impressive Dewsbury Moor side on Sunday afternoon.

It proved to be a hard-fought game against a well organised and physical Dewsbury side.

Widnes started the game well but were unable to capitalise on some early Dewsbury errors, and the visitors soon got their act together, running in five unanswered first half tries.

The Vikings Women came out fighting after the break, and it was only the power and speed of the Dewsbury number 11 who ran in two tries that brought them back down to earth.

Lesser teams would have crumbled at this point, but credit must go to the Widnes girls as they continued to work hard and this was rewarded with a Jazz Mason try.

Dewsbury ran in another four-pointer, before the last try of the game was fittingly scored by Widnes’ outstanding player of the match, Chloe Hunt.

Verdict

Chloe may be only small in stature, but she has the heart of a lion, she tackled everything in sight and ran the ball in well.

Other players that stood out were Becky Murphy, Izzy Robinson and the non-stop Aimee Cleaver.
