Widnes Vikings held a very positive meeting on Tuesday at the DCBL Stadium with Tony Sutton the recently appointed CEO of the RFL.
The meeting was to discuss in detail the amended IMG proposals that clubs will be voting on at the RFL Council meeting on 19 April over at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.
Newly appointed Head of Operations, Chris Hamilton said: “Myself and the whole of the board were present, together with Paul Wright, the Operational Director of Community and Environment, Lee Coombes, Stadium Manager and Bruce Reardon, Safety Officer, all from Halton Borough Council.
“It was important for the club to hear from Tony, first-hand, about the IMG proposals, which will affect all clubs moving forward, but we were particularly keen for the council to be present for part of the meeting so that they have a clear understanding of what is required and how we can both work together.
“The relationship with Halton Borough Council is really positive and that has really struck me this week and, as a club, we are really pleased with this, as I know they are too.
“The club went through some detail with Tony, the IMG proposals and the implications for the club and following the vote on the 19th, which will determine if they are accepted by the whole game, we look forward to sharing further details with our fans.
“It is an important time within rugby league but we are confident that the club will be well-placed to cement our future.”
