Vikings to host touch rugby festival

Ahead of the club’s upcoming home game against Bradford Bulls, Widnes Vikings will welcome children from across the local area to take part in an exciting touch rugby festival.

Year 6 children from across the Halton area have been invited to represent their schools at the DCBL Stadium on Monday 10 July. It will be the final time these pupils will be able to represent their primary schools before progressing to secondary school.

Previous festivals held at the DCBL Stadium have been a huge success, with over 300 pupils participating.

This interaction has led to the Vikings Sports Foundation developing primary schools participating in rugby league across the town.

We have also been delighted with the number of pupils and parents/carers who have attended our matches due to our family season ticket and ‘Pay It Forward’ initiative.

The festival will be 7-a-side, with up to three substitutes. Schools can also enter more than one team.

Festival Information

  • Arrival time: 5:15pm
  • Festival start: 5:30pm
  • Festival end: 6:45pm

The Vikings’ upcoming fixture against the Bulls will be an evening 7:45pm kick-off, televised on Viaplay. Season ticket holders also have the opportunity to bring a friend to the fixture for just £15.

The club’s aim is to fill the stands with the next generation of Vikings players and fans, and at half-time in the Betfred Championship Round 18 clash, all players and staff who have participated in the pre-match activities will also be invited to complete a lap of honour.
