Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the signing of young centre Deacon Connolly, who has agreed a one-year deal with the club ahead of the 2026 season.
Connolly is a product of Rochdale Mayfield and progressed through the Warrington Wolves academy system.
The 18-year-old has spent the pre-season period on trial with the Vikings and has impressed the coaching staff with his attitude and performances.
Having trained consistently with the squad throughout pre-season, Connolly has now been rewarded for his efforts with a contract, adding further depth and competition to the Vikings’ backline options.
On signing with the club, Connolly said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for a club with such history.
“Massive thanks to Allan for taking a chance on me and inviting me down to pre-season, and I haven’t looked back. I’ve really started enjoying my rugby again coming here.
“I hope I can get an opportunity and make a real impact when playing for the club. I want to make the fans and my family proud.”
The signing represents another positive step as the club continues to build strongly towards 2026, further bolstering the squad with hungry, high-potential talent.
Head Coach Allan Coleman commented: “We brought Deacon in with us on trial and he’s been really impressive.
“He might not get a massive amount of game time initially, but long-term I think he’s got real potential and I hope he can showcase his talents.”
Connolly will wear the number 27 shirt and is available for this Friday’s friendly with Warrington.
Recruitment is now nearing its conclusion, with the club hopeful of confirming a final signing in the coming weeks to replace the departing Jake Maizen and complete what has been a successful period of squad building.
Deacon is available to sponsor for the 2026 season. Please contact daver@widnesvikings.co.uk to enquire.
