Widnes Vikings are thrilled to announce our first new signing for the 2026 season, as former England international half-back, Jordan Abdull, arrives at the DCBL Stadium on a one-year deal.
The former Man of Steel nominee joins the club, having most recently played for Catalans Dragons in 2024.
After a year out of the game, Abdull, 29, is excited to get started with the Vikings as he pens a deal for 2026 with an option for 2027.
The talented halfback brings a wealth of experience, having made 153 Super League appearances for Hull FC, Hull KR, Catalans Dragons, and London Broncos.
He enjoyed a career-best year in 2021 for Hull KR, earning himself a Man of Steel nomination and an England call-up as he registered an impressive 124 points in 16 games.
After signing for the club, Abdull said: “I’m really excited for a new challenge. I’ve had 12 months to rest my body and rest my mind. I just want to get back to enjoying what I do, and that is playing rugby.
“After speaking with Allan on a number of occasions, it’s the aspirations of the club that excited me the most. We all have the same dream, which is to be playing in Super League again, so I think it’s a really good fit.
“I’m looking forward to getting into it and meeting all the fans. I can guarantee that I’ll put my best foot forward for the club.”
On the newest addition, Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “It’s a fantastic signing for the club. If you just look at his career and what he’s done, you can see the value he’s going to add.
“His kicking game is as good as anybody’s, and he’s someone who always wants his hands on the ball. He’s a big body for a half, who will provide a real run threat.
“It’s a massive coup for us given his pedigree. He’s played for England and been nominated for the Man of Steel, so that just shows the quality of player we’re getting here.”
Welcome to the Vikings Jordan, we can’t wait to cheer you and the rest of the team on next year!
Signings like this are assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme, they can do so here.
Abdull is sponsored by West End Motors for the 2026 season!
