VIKINGS VISIT CHRIS WHITTLE AS PART OF ’12 VISITS OF CHRISTMAS’

Vikings players Tom Gilmore, Will Tilleke, and Joe Lyons made the latest visit of the ’12 visits of Christmas’ last night.

Chris Whittle, 52. was nominated for a visit from the Vikings by his sister Julie Whittle.

Chris is a lifelong Widnes fan and after a difficult few years, he decided to get more involved with the community events in Widnes.

He regularly attends the walking rugby sessions held at the Stadium and began volunteering at training sessions for the Vikings’ Learning Disability Rugby League team, as well as accompanying the team to LDRL festivals.

Chris loves being involved in these events and has never missed a walking rugby or LDRL training session.

His sister Julie described him as a friendly and enthusiastic person who motivates those around him and encourages them to be involved.

Chris has been a huge help to the club through his volunteer work with the foundation, his positivity and commitment to ensure that everyone attending is included and gets the most out of each session is extremely valuable.

Kellen Wood, Head of the Vikings Sports Foundation, said: “The foundation loves the idea of Chris being rewarded for all of his efforts!

“Chris is held in very high regard within the community and is someone who the foundation wouldn’t be able to do without.

“It’s fantastic to be given a chance to showcase the work that others don’t normally see or hear within the community.

“Chris has been recognised for his loyalty and commitment to the club by having players he watches week in and week out visit him, which is so inspiring to see. Well done Chris!”

Everyone at the club would like to thank Chris for all he does and it was great to see how pleased he was to meet Tom, Will, and Joe.
