Widnes Vikings head coach Allan Coleman, together with Max Roberts and Liam Bent, made the first visits of the ’12 Visits of Christmas’ last night.
Theo Black, 14, and his mum Sharron Black, 53, were nominated for a visit from the Vikings by husband and father Phil Black
Theo has drug-resistant epilepsy and regularly has clusters of seizures which have had a significant impact not only on his education, but also on his short-term memory.
Despite his condition and the way it impacts his life, Theo’s father Phil says that he goes about his life in great humour with a smile on his face and in his heart.
Theo’s mother Sharron is his main caregiver, as well as looking after her four other children.
She is often awake into the early hours of the night each day of his cluster, monitoring him to ensure if he has a seizure she can provide the oxygen support he needs to stay alive.
Sharron also does volunteer work and gets a lot of joy out of helping others.
She and her mother run an organisation called ‘Beverley and Aimee’s Born Sleeping Blessings’ as they provide handmade memory packs and gift them to any Mum, Dad, Grandma, or Grandad that has lost a child.
Sharron also helps out in making baby outfits for dolls that are given to dementia patients who often remember raising their children as babies, for which these dolls give them comfort.
After all that she does for her family, it is fantastic to see the efforts she is making in the community.
Sharron and Theo are both big Vikings fans and hold season tickets in the South Stand.
We couldn’t think of a more deserving pair to receive a visit and everyone at Widnes Vikings was thrilled to see how delighted they were to meet Allan, Max, and Liam.
