The Vikings’ most recent contribution, as part of the ’12 visits of Christmas’, was a donation to the Asda food bank.
After receiving two nominations for the work that local food banks do in the community, particularly at Christmas when those struggling are finding it harder, the club donated to the local Asda food bank.
We went down to Asda and did a full shop of requested items, which were then donated to the food bank.
The impact local food banks have on the community at this time of year is massive, so it was fantastic for us to be able to contribute and help support the community over the Christmas period.
For anyone who wishes to donate to the food banks, the suggested items are:
- Tins of fruit, meat, vegetables and soup
- Tea, Coffee, and UHT milk
- Jams, marmalades, and healthy snacks
- Dried pasta, rice and mash
- Cooking sauces
- Fruit juice
- Basic toiletries like toothpaste and toilet roll
