The Vikings take a trip to Sheffield in Round 12 of the Betfred Championship next Monday evening, live on Premier Sports. Let’s take a look at how the squad have come out of Sunday’s victory over Whitehaven going into their next game.
The Vikings are coming off the back of a comprehensive 56-16 win over Whitehaven which ended our winless streak. Sheffield were well beaten away at Halifax and will be looking to get back to winning ways in what is the first game for them at the newly built Olympic Legacy Park.
The previous game between the two sides saw us come away with the two points with a 30-16 win at the DCBL Stadium last year.
Following on from the win at home to Whitehaven, we have an eight-day turnaround until this game which will give players an opportunity to get an extra training session in this week with a view to getting back into the match day squad.
New recruit Josh Johnson picked up a knee injury which will be assessed through the week by the medical team and a decision on his availability will be made later in the week.
Ollie Brookes is awaiting scan results on his hamstring injury, a further update and recovery timescale will be given in due course.
Jack Owens is progressing well after knee surgery and will be entering the running preparation phase of his rehab before returning to field running sessions.
Shane Grady has also started running on the field with the medical staff and is progressing well with his recovery from a knee injury.
Danny Craven will be back in full training this week and a call will be made on whether or not he is ready to play later in the week.
Levy Nzoungou is still progressing with his rehab programme with the Strength and Conditioning staff.
Jake Spedding has also progressed with his field running and will be treated based on symptoms over the course of this week.
Brad Holroyd, Will Tilleke, Liam Bent, Dec Gregory, Lewis Hulme are all available for selection heading into this week’s game.
