Widnes Vikings booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 1895 Cup after a convincing 50-10 victory over Dewsbury Rams.
It was the hosts who got themselves on the board first as Jacob Hookem took the ball from acting half and crashed under the sticks after just three minutes.
However, the Vikings mounted a quick response, Dan Murray pouncing on a short ball and bowling his way over.
Widnes then hit the front 12 minutes later, a searching run from Danny Langtree towards the Rams line resulting in him going over for a try.
With 10 minutes to go until the break, the Vikings then consolidated their advantage. A clever kick from Jack Owens caught the Dewsbury defence napping and found Nathan Connell, who walked in to score.
Connell then added his second of the afternoon, Max Roberts finding a line break then handing the ball off to the full-back to give the Vikings a 24-6 lead at the break.
Widnes made a quickfire start to the second half as Kieran Taylor went over from close range.
However, Dewsbury then responded with a try of their own as Hookem scored his second of the afternoon.
The Vikings were keen to regain their authority and strengthen their grip of the tie, and after gaining good field position from a penalty, it was Morgan McWhirter’s turn to crash under the sticks.
Taylor then doubled his tally for the afternoon, Widnes moving the ball from left to right from a scrum which gave the centre a walk-in.
A few minutes later, Connell completed his hat-trick, smartly beating a couple of defenders and strolling under the posts for another four-pointer.
Just before the hooter, Joe Edge pounced on a kick from Owens to bring up the half-century of points- rounding off the Vikings’ scoring for the afternoon.
Allan Coleman’s side will host Newcastle Thunder in the last eight, after the draw was made on Sunday evening.
