Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Roberts to the Board of Directors.
Roberts, 33, joins the Board as a Director and Shareholder following clearance of due diligence by the club and the Rugby Football League.
He is a lifelong Widnes fan, who lives in Birmingham and his Uncle, Tony Chambers previously served as Chairman for Widnes. Outside of watching the Vikings, Matt currently works as the Head of UK & Europe for an insurance company.
On joining the Vikings Board of Directors, he said: “It is an incredibly proud moment for me and my family to become a shareholder and investor in the club.
“Widnes is an important part of my life and runs through many generations of my family who are from the town.”
“From my discussions with Stuart and the rest of the board, it is clear there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes and I am confident the expertise I have gained in my professional role can add value to keep driving the club forward.”
He added: “I witness, on a weekly basis, how passionate our supporters are. They are the heartbeat of the club and I look forward to meeting many of them over the coming weeks.
“After a few years of ups and downs, now is a very exciting time to be a Widnes fan.
“I will do my utmost to help the club become a leading figure of the sport both on and off the field and am excited to begin this journey.”
We look forward to introducing Matt to the Vikings faithful soon.
