Matt Fleming says the Widnes Vikings squad showed glimpses of what they are capable of against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings took to the field for the first time in 2023 and ran out convincing 46-6 winners in front of the club’s home supporters.
Fleming scored the club’s first try of the year, crossing down the left edge after a quick shift of play.

“It was good to score some tries and get through the game,” he said.
“I thought everyone played really well considering it’s the first game back after a long pre-season. It was nice to be back on the field.
Fleming was keen to stress the positivity around the first team camp as preparations for the new Betfred Championship campaign have progressed.
“It’s been a tough pre-season but a good one,” he added.
