Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the return of hooker Lewis Hulme for the remainder of the 2021 season.
The 26-year-old is a former Academy player who re-joined the club last year as a member of the Reserves for the 2020 season – which was ultimately cut short.
He played five games for the Reserves, scoring one try against Wakefield Trinity before earning a call-up to the First Team, making his debut against Swinton Lions in the final game of the season before it was curtailed.
Lewis has been recently plying his trade with local amateur side Halton Farnworth Hornets, and his family is rooted in club history with his dad Paul and uncle Dave both members of the club’s all-time 17.
On re-joining the Vikings, Lewis Hulme commented: “It feels good to be back. Obviously last year the season was cut short so I’m happy to have come back halfway through this year.”
“Last year when I made my debut, my mum was beaming on the day and my grandparents couldn’t come along because of Covid, so hopefully they can come and see me play too this year.
“The team is in good form at the moment, but hopefully I can bring a bit of versatility as I can cover a couple of positions and I’m a body that can be used, so hopefully I can bring a bit of enthusiasm.
“The lads are looking to push for the play-offs, a big club like this should be, and I think it’s all to play for against Halifax this weekend.”
The hooker will join up with his teammates this week ahead of this Sunday’s game at Halifax Panthers and will be in contention for the latest 21-man squad.
Lewis Hulme is proudly sponsored by Skin Deep Aesthetics for the 2021 season.
