LEIGH LEOPARDS RECALL KEANAN BRAND FROM LOAN WITH VIKINGS

Widnes Vikings can confirm that Leigh Leopards have recalled Keanan Brand from his season loan with the Vikings.

Following injuries and suspensions within the Leigh squad, they have recalled Brand ahead of their Magic Weekend fixture with Salford Red Devils.

As the transfer deadline has now passed he will not be able to return to the Vikings.

Brand made six appearances during his loan spell with the Vikings scoring the opening try in our 24-20 win over Halifax last month.

Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “We got the news last night that Keanan would be recalled. It’s gutting because he’s been so good for us.

“Obviously we got him in at a time when we were really vulnerable in the centres so I can’t thank Derek Beaumont and Chris Chester enough.

He added: “I’m no fool and I understand that he’s their player and if they need him they have to recall him.

“We can only thank Keanan for the time he’s been with us and the help he gave us.

“We’ve got Matt Fleming fit again and Zac Bardsley-Rowe is back so we’re not massively short in that area.”

Everyone at the club would like to thank Keanan for his efforts on loan over the recent months.
